BENEFIT FinTech Award Open Banking Hackathon

Under the patronage of Central Bank of Bahrain and in strategic partnership with the BENEFIT company and the Global Shapers Manama, Bahrain FinTech Bay kicked off the second BENEFIT FinTech Award Hackathon on the 21st of February 2020 — and continued the following day, the 22nd of February 2020 — under the theme of “Open Banking”.

The weekend brought together a mix of university students and professionals from different educational backgrounds to build a working prototype — centered on the theme — which could form the basis of a credible business.

On the first day, the participants were initially introduced to the coaches and were briefed on the structure of the event. This was followed by the pitches, where a number of willing participants got the opportunity to pitch their ideas while the rest voted for the pitches they leaned towards. The teams were then formed and given the opportunity to brainstorm, discuss and start working as well as talk to a selected number of coaches for further direction on their ideas.

During the second day, the teams continued working on their ideas, met with coaches and practiced their pitches in a 30-minute workshop.

The finale will be taking place at the OpenX Conference, which will be postponed until further notice.
